Sean Bellemeur is a five-time NHRA National Champion (four-time Regional Champion), championship-winning race driver with a career spanning over 30 years.
Sean Bellemeur is a five-time NHRA National Champion with a championship-winning career spanning over 30 years and 55 race wins. He will continue with Bartone Brothers Racing for the 2026 season—his eighth with the team—driving the "Pirate Ship" Chevrolet Camaro in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The team has dubbed the upcoming campaign the #DriveFor6in26, aiming to secure a sixth Top Alcohol Funny Car National Championship.

Entering 2026, Bellemeur is on the verge of making history. With 48 national event wins, he ranks as the third-winningest driver in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category, trailing only Frank Manzo and Pat Austin. Just two more victories would place him among the elite group of only 25 racers with 50 or more NHRA national event titles.

The team is coming off a dominant 2025 season that began with major technical innovation. After debuting Tony Bartone's new Nitro-Injected (A/Fuel) Top Alcohol Funny Car in April at the “Baby Gators,” the "Killer B's" immediately reset the national record with a run of 5.330 seconds at 281.42 mph—marking the first time a car in the class exceeded 280 mph. They broke their own record again at the Gatornationals with a 5.317-second pass at 278.29 mph. Later, at the zMAX Dragway national event, the team made history once more by becoming the first Injected Nitro package to win a national event in TAFC—a feat they repeated by also winning the Gatornationals final held at the same venue.

Notable 2025 accomplishments include: Setting the NHRA National Record: 5.330 seconds at 281.42 mph (first TAFC over 280 mph); First Injected Nitro package to win a TAFC national event in NHRA history; Event wins with the Injected Nitro car at: Baby Gators Regional, Gatornationals National, and zMAX Four-Wide Nationals; Additional wins with the Blown TAFC at: Summit Motorsports Park Nationals, Brainerd Nationals, Worldwide Technology Regional, Texas Motorplex National, and The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Regional.

This success followed a perfect 2024 season in which the Tony Bartone-owned team claimed both the NHRA Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Funny Car National Championship and the Midwest Regional Championship. Bellemeur earned his fourth national title after amassing a perfect 850 points—the maximum possible—across 10 races. Highlights included a victory at the U.S. Nationals in Indy, a clean sweep of the NHRA Fall Nationals in Texas, winning the JEGS Allstars Shootout, and dominating both four-wide events on the calendar as well as all four races they entered in Ohio.

In 2007 Bellemeur's experience and skill caught the eye of team owner Ron Meer and crew chief Bob DeVour, who approached him at the end of the 2006 season about driving the Meer Homes Top Alcohol Funny Car for the next season. In that first season with Meer and DeVour, Bellemeur won the Lucas Oil Series in the Pacific Division at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.
On the nostalgia side, Bellemeur's career has been touched by more than one bright point, including driving the nostalgia A/Fueler to victory at the 2002 March Meet, a race that his father competed at in the 1970s. Nearly as thrilling was winning the Bakersfield divisional race last season.
Family has always played a big role for the California based driver. Switching from paid drives and back to the family car was a way life in his early professional career.
In 2017, east coast racing legend Tony Bartone was ready to step out of the Bartone Bros Racing Top Alcohol Funny Car. With mutual respect garnered from on-track competition Bartone hired Bellemeur and assembled what is known today as the Killer B's. The Killer B's are made up of Tony Bartone, Sean Bellemeur and renowned crew chief Steve Boggs. Together the Killer B's have 50 feature wins and three NHRA Championships.
