Bartone was able to set fast race lap today and Pilgrim took the Master's Class trophies in both races on the weekend.
St. Petersburg, Fla., (March 4, 2023) - Anthony Bartone finished fourth and Andy Pilgrim finished fifth in the race two of the GT America Powered by AWS Championship race weekend at St. Pete.
Race two, again, was interrupted by two full-course cautions for more than half of the timed 4-minute event. With the interruptions, Bartone was able to set fast race lap today and Pilgrim took the Master's Class trophies in both races on the weekend.
“Not a very exciting race,” Bartone said. “We were all out there for 30 minutes driving around. The green laps I had were good. We were pretty spread out at the front. I had Andy behind me, and we were able to bring the cars back and put them on the trailer in perfect shape for Sonoma. Andy won the Master’s Class in both races and I set fast race lap today. So, we load a few trophies and know we have a good Bartone Bros. Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars going
forward.”
Pilgrim knows that going home with two cars on one-piece is a win in itself when street course racing.
“It’s a win when we can load two Bartone Bros Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars on the trailer in perfect condition after two street races,” Pilgrim said. “We also got two first place Masters Class trophyies on the truck too. I completely forgot about the Masters Class from last year. My thought to myself is this isn’t in the AARP manual, but I am happy to win them. Anthony’s progression this weekend was measurable, with him posting the fast lap of the race today. Thanks to the Bartone Bros Racing Racing with RealTime crew for giving us fast cars this weekend.”
The next GT America Powered by AWS Championship race will be at Sonoma Raceway, March 30 - April 2.
The team would like to thank sponsors Red Line Oil, Roger Dean Chevrolet, and Talon Air.
